The Google Phone rumor has been heating up for the past few days and in what is obviously the climax of this ongoing show, Engadget has managed to scoop up images of the Google Phone in action - possibly at a Google employee's desk.The phone, also known as the "Nexus One", seems to be a decently spec-ed device and as of now, there is no indication of Google making this phone available to the general public. The phone was apparently handed over to Google employees over the past week. Confirmation of the device's existence was a seen in the form of Tweets from Google employees and later a confirmation from Google on one of its blogs that they were indeed, "dogfeeding" its employees with a new Mobile device. Now, dogfeeding is nothing but Google's way of telling that they are testing a new product and that the employees are helping them with the test. The blog post adds, "The mobile lab is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it."This is what we officially know about the Google Phone. The rest of the story has been meticulously pieced together by curious blogs like TechCrunch (who first reported the existence of the Google Phone) and Engadget (who seems to have found the first pictures of the phone at work.)As for the phone, the Nexus one is believed to be a very capable Android laden device running a 1Ghz snapdragon processor and boasting of Android 2.0.1. The phone is believed to be unclocked and has also seen an update recently. The device (obviously) comes loaded with Google Navigation and there is a dearth of physical buttons on the phone with just two of them making it on to the front fascia. In fact, apart from the volume rocker and the front controls, pretty much everything is touch based. Another interesting facet about the Google Phone is that it does not seem to be made by HTC which gives rise to the question - Who exactly made this phone for Google?
